These are some of the top SEO bad habits in 2019.

  1. Stuffing the heck out of your website with keywords. (KEYWORD STUFFING)

“Keyword stuffing, or the practice of shoving as many seo keywords onto a page as physically possible, has long been the bane of SEO white hats everywhere.” Says Wordstream, a Search Engine Marketing authority.

5 years ago, keyword stuffing was as common as stuffing an empanada (my favorite pastry).

Since then, major search engines like Google, Yahoo, and Bing have improved their algorithms to ignore keyword stuffing and favor a more natural and user focused style of content.

Not only is this a RED CARD, but it also leaves your website with content that people won’t enjoy reading.

Moral of the story, if you’re trying to, on page one of google in Fresno, CA or another city, don’t keyword stuff! Only stuff empanadas like the ones at La Estrella bakery, my favorite bakery in the Fresno area.

  1. Don’t use images that are larger than 500KB in size.

One of factors that Google uses to rank your website is page load time. When you have images that are large, it causes your website’s load speed to drastically decrease.

When you optimize your images for web, your website will load a lot faster and less people will click away.

If you would like to measure your page load time, we recommend these two tools:

  1. Google Page speed Insights https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/
  2. GT Metrix: https://gtmetrix.com
